About A Little Bit of This and That
A Little Bit of This and That is about the impossible beauty and heartbreak of this world and the stories and words that connect us.
The Formal Version of Me
I’m a journalist and co-author of the award-winning memoir Grace and Grit: My Fight for Equal Pay and Fairness at Goodyear and Beyond. The film, Lilly, based on my book, starring Patricia Clarkson, premiered at the Hamptons Film Festival in October 2024. My work has been in Al Jazeera, The Los Angeles Times, The Lily, Huffington Post, The Bitter Southerner, Scalawag, and Salvation South. An editorial contributor to Inside Climate News, I am an Alabama Library Association Nonfiction Award recipient and a 2023 Alabama State Council of the Arts fellow. A blue dot in a red state, I live in Birmingham, Alabama, with my husband Hugo and three dogs, and have a college-age daughter and grown son. I’m a Peloton addict, dog lover and psychic junkie.
What’s Happening Here
You’ll get to know the informal version of me through my essays, editorials (sometimes), profiles of interesting Southern characters, interviews with artists and writers, The Daisy Chronicles, and whatever gives me that feeling in my gut that says “this is a good story.” My plan is to post weekly, but I hope it will probably be more.
Daisy is the Pittie mix next to her Rottie sister, Spice, and sweet Lulu.
